Access Illinois Outdoors Brings Back Deer Stations To Pike County

Pittsfield, IL – Access Illinois Outdoors, operated through the Two Rivers Resource Conservation & Development Area, has for several years received multiple requests to recreate the Deer Check Stations that used to exist at the local IDNR Field Office during firearm season. Although not an exact re-creation, a similar activity has been initiated with the help of the Tax Accommodations Grant and Pike County Archery Shop.

For this archery and firearm season, hunters will be able to take their deer to Pike County Archery, 7 E Industrial Drive, Pittsfield, Illinois during normal hours store hours and have a chance to win a Matthews Halon Bow, valued at $1,100 and also receive a special Pike County Deer Station 2016 collectible pin.

“This does not replace checking the deer in through IDNR, but is for fun only,” stressed AIO Coordinator Brenda Middendorf. “Only tagged deer will be accepted into the drawing and be eligible to receive the collectible pin.”

According to Middendorf, “Hunters have missed the opportunity to see other hunters’ harvest and compare stories. A major change to the original program will be the opportunity to bring in deer through the archery season. We hope everyone enjoys this opportunity and shows off their 2016 Pike County Deer Check pin.”

Photos of deer will be taken and shown on the AIO Facebook page as well as the Pike County Archery Facebook pages.
